Developing Self and Others – (2nd Example)

For a firm to grow and continually achieve its goals and deliver the high standards expected, its employees must undergo constant learning and development. There should be a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organisation. Employees should be seeking out opportunities to grow not just for themselves but for the department and firm as a whole.

When I worked as Delivery Manager I understood how business processes can change on a whim, so I always ensured I was up to speed on all the newest developments. When the organisation was starting to pivot toward Agile I quickly up-skilled and looked for online learning courses in the space. Very soon thereafter I gained my PRINCE2 Agile foundation qualification. At which time I started to train my whole team on Agile and secured company resources to get everyone certified in both foundation and practitioner qualifications.

With certifications and qualifications in hand, our team really flourished. We quickly shifted our product deliveries into agile methodologies, which significantly improved the department’s ability to meet business needs.

We were so effective that the organisation asked us to host workshops for other departments. Instilling this concept of continuous development really helped the organisation evolve and increase its competitiveness.

As an added benefit the firm had also seen reduced attrition among the employees so it has clearly benefited both the employer and employees.
